This piece was painted as an advertisement for a Santa Fe, NM art exhibit in 2013, titled “Ben’s Steele’s Wild West Art Show.” The exhibition was a gateway point in Steele’s career to explore the western genre for the first time and became a major breakthrough in his career. Western American Art has since become a staple of his work, always done with a unique contemporary spin as opposed to the traditional nature of most western art.
